Starting a Blog for Real Estate Agents

What is a Blog

A blog is a log of thoughts and ideas that an individual or company will post on a website.  Think of it like a LinkedIn article or a Facebook post that is published on a site instead of a social media platform.  Blogs can be made using third-party websites under your profile or can be made on your own website.

Why a blog?

As a Realtor, content helps your business grow.  The more content you publish (video, shorts, reels, blogs, vlogs) the more you standout on search engines when people search for Real Estate topics.  Not everybody wants to watch a video when they search, and not every Realtor wants to make videos either.  Blogs are a great method of catching Google / Bing searches and ads SEO capabilities to your Google Business listing.

Where to Blog?

There are various options for creating and publishing a blog.

If you already have a website, then it’s best to blog directly on your site.  If you’re planning to build a website, it’s recommended to use WordPress as your site-builder. It’s easy to use and best of all, it’s FREE. Every hosting company offers a one-click installation of WordPress through their cPanel.

If you would rather not deal with hosting, domains and site-builders, then there are websites that will take care of the techie part, letting you concentrate on your content.

WordPress.com

The same company as mentioned above offers a paid subscription option if you chose to not deal with hosting providers and leave all the tech issues with them.  For about $50/yr, you just log-in to the site and create your site as you please.

Weebly | Wix

Very similar as WordPress.com, however offers a free version.
